Houston restaurateur Manfred Jachmich has sold his three Post Oak Grill restaurants to longtime chef Polo Becerra.

Becerra started at Post Oak Grill as a line cook 12 years ago, and Jachmich says selling the restaurants to his chef made the most sense as he prepares to focus on other projects.

Beefy matters
Who: Don Shula and Bud Adams.

Where & what: At the opening of Shula's Steak House in the Hyatt Regency Downtown, where Shula and his son, Dave Shula, welcomed close to 500 guests.

Misc.: The feast raised $20,000 for the Houston Texans Foundation. Sampling the jumbo barbecued shrimp, crab cakes and loads of beef were guests including NFL greats Dan Pastorini, Elvin Bethea, Butch Woolfolk and Mark Clayton. An ice sculpture of the Vince Lombardi trophy centered the party space, a nod to Don Shula's 1972 undefeated season as Miami Dolphins coach.

Post Oak Grill expanding

Post Oak Grill is expanding into another fashionable part of town.

The restaurant — whose original location is in the Galleria area — is expected to open in about two months in Midtown at 3017 Milam.

The project joins other restaurants and clubs opening in Midtown, where the nightlife scene has been expanding.

A seafood restaurant called Reef is under construction at the corner of McGowen and Travis. And an Italian eatery, Craiganale's Little Italy, whose owners operate a deli downtown, recently opened on Smith.
